Outpatient Radiation Oncology

Nurses working in our highly-regarded radiation oncology clinic enjoy a spacious and technologically modern environment. Our department employs state-of-the-art equipment including dual energy linear accelerators with multi-leaf collimators, CT-simulation and high dose brachytherapy. We offer patients a diverse range of treatment options, including:

  • external beam radiation therapy
  • high dose and low dose brachytherapy
  • stereotactic radiosurgery
  • total body irradiation
  • radiopharmaceuticals

The department also has an active Radiation Therapy Oncology Group research program.

Unit Culture

Nursing staff are considered integral members of our multidisciplinary team that consists of physicians, physicists, and radiation therapists. We work collaboratively with both inpatient and outpatient nurses, as well as with our innovative pain management/palliative care team. This integrated approach allows us to offer comprehensive care to our patients with an emphasis on patient and family supportive services, which includes active support groups and complementary therapies such as Reiki. Our nurses appreciate our weekday schedule and 8-hour shifts.
