Our Many Valuable Volunteers
We are grateful to the many volunteers who support us throughout the Cancer Center.
In the Cancer Center Library, our expert volunteers help patients and their families find the information they need.
Always busy, they maintain the library database, help with computer access to Internet sites, stock brochures, re-shelve books, and keep track of everything going in and out of the library.
In the Cancer Registry, volunteers assist with data entry of cancer diagnosis and treatment information into a computer database. Attention to detail is important here, but not computer experience - training is supplied as needed.
Volunteers in the Infusion Suite assist with meals, and other patient requests and comfort needs. They also keep education materials stocked and available for patients.
At the Radiation Oncology Desk, volunteers provide a welcoming environment, make sure patients have the resources they need, and provide assistance or escort to treatment areas.
Hematology-Oncology Wayfinders provide support to patients and their families, helping out with everything from coffee and tea to directions to the next appointment. They also keep the waiting rooms, clinic spaces, and libraries welcoming, neat, and stocked with information.
Throughout the year, volunteers help in varied ways by working on the events and activities of the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center. The Friends support the work of the Cancer Center by raising money, producing events, conducting community education programs, and supporting patient services.
We welcome and appreciate the special talents, interests, and energy of our many fine volunteers.
If you'd like more information on how to get involved at the Cancer Center, contact the DHMC Volunteer Services Office at (603) 650-7056. We look forward to working with you!
