Celebrating Skip Matthews
Father's Day this year was sunny but cool, a perfect day for a run. More than 350 people did just that, setting out on either a one-mile fun run/walk or a four-mile trail run as part of the First Annual Skip Matthews Memorial Run. Family, neighbors, friends, and co-workers organized the event to honor Matthews, who died in October 2003 from brain cancer. The Run raised $7,400 for the Brain Tumor Research Fund at Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
Dr. Camilo Fadul, who heads the program, was Skip's oncologist. "This run is a perfect celebration of Skip's life, and the generous donations to brain cancer research are yet another way that Skip continues to give so much to the community that he loved." The Second Annual Skip Matthews Memorial Run will take place on Father's Day, June 19, 2005. Plan to gather your family and join the fun!
