Capacity for Care

Patient care space in the Cancer Center doubles

The construction and renovations that integrate cancer research, patient care, clinical trials, and support services within the Barbara E. Rubin Building are nearing completion. Our new Cancer Center entrance and reception area opened on August 9th. This soaring and welcoming space reflects exciting developments throughout our Center - we've added advanced research labs and inviting public spaces, and renovated much of the clinic space to enhance service to our patients.

Construction will continue in parts of the clinic through the fall and in the infusion area into early 2005. When complete, the patient care space in the Cancer Center will have doubled, and will include:
  • New clinic, waiting, and consultation rooms.
  • An enlarged infusion room designed for patient comfort.
  • Four new outpatient bone marrow transplant treatment areas.
  • Expanded patient resource areas for information and computer access.
  • Space for supportive services such as massage, Reiki, and stress reduction classes.
  • Child-friendly environments with special provisions for children.
We are grateful to our patients and families for their grace and tolerance during our construction, as we work to increase our capacity to provide compassionate cancer care of the highest quality for our community.

Join us on Sunday, November 7, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm to celebrate the opening of our new space.
