Lung / Thoracic Cancer Program
Medical Director: James R. Rigas, MD
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Tobacco is addictive, but kicking the habit is a little easier with the help of Norris Cotton Cancer Center's Smoking Cessation Clinic. Learn more.
The mission of the Comprehensive Thoracic Oncology Program is to save lives. We engage specialists from molecular diagnostics, radiology, pathology, clinical pharmacology, pulmonary medicine, medical and radiation oncology, surgery, and advance practice nursing. This way we can detect tumors earlier, stage them more accurately, and provide the appropriate modes of therapy. Patients seen through our Interdisciplinary Lung Cancer Clinic are able to coordinate individual appointments with cancer specialists on a single day.
We are dedicated to reducing lung cancer incidence, to improving treatments, and to prolonging the vitality of those diagnosed.
Our services include:
- The only interventional pulmonologist in northern New England
- Sub-specialized surgical pathology services, available for consultation and second opinion review of neoplastic and non-neoplastic lung disease
- Advanced radiosurgery with Trilogy™
- Access to clinical trials of new treatments
- Smoking cessation program
- Thoracic surgery
We also provide supportive and palliative care services. In almost all settings, our program offers investigational and innovative experimental approaches alongside high-quality conventional care.
