Members of the Comprehensive Breast Program (CBP) are serious about teamwork. We constantly work to eliminate barriers that hamper communication between providers of different services. We work with you and your family, your primary care physician, and specialists to coordinate your care and maintain communication. This allows you to remain focused on healing.

One of the ways we offer care is though our Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic, where you meet individually with cancer specialists. Coordinated care eliminates delays and provides each patient with an individualized treatment plan. Together you and your providers discuss the best course of treatment, based on their knowledge of the latest research and therapies, and your preferences and values.

A team approach also drives our weekly Breast Conference (Tumor Board), where members of the CBP from Radiology, Pathology, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology--including physicians, nurses and technicians—meet to review new breast cancer patients.

Our Breast Cancer Work Group, comprised of representatives from Pathology, Radiology, Surgical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology, meets quarterly to discuss general clinical issues facing the CBP, which range from patient flow to center-wide treatment guidelines.

The glue that holds the team together is the CBP office. Communication between and among the members of the CBP are facilitated by the central office through the Medical Director, E. Dale Collins, MD, the Breast Care Coordinators, Margie Cole and Laurel Ludy, and the Program Coordinators, Nancy Beaudoin, Julie Christian and Orikio Dzewaltowski.
