The Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program
Program Director:
Kenneth Meehan, MD
Blood and marrow transplants—the infusion of bone marrow or blood stem cells—offer patients the chance for a cure or for extended remission of blood cancers. High doses of chemotherapy normally destroy the ability to regenerate blood cells, but a blood stem cell transplant allows the body to produce new blood cells.
The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Norris Cotton Cancer Center provides all types of bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants for the treatment of lymphoma, leukemia, multiple myeloma and other tumors, on an in-patient or out-patient basis. The program is the only National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) transplant center in northern New England and is recognized as a specialized center for unrelated donor transplants.
We strive to provide a relaxed and caring environment, understanding that your emotional and mental well-being is as important to the healing process as the treatment itself.
