Brenda Nevidjon, RN, MSN, FAAN, is President of the Oncology Nursing Society and Clinical Professor and Chair of the Masters Program at Duke University School of Nursing. She was the first nurse and first woman to be Chief Operating Officer of Duke University Hospital. She has devoted her energy to bridging practice settings and academic environments to advance patient care, creating innovative work environments, promoting scholarship in practitioners, and developing leaders.
Nevidjon has contributed extensively to the nursing literature and serves as a mentor and role model for nurses in the development of their power and voice through publication. With oncology colleagues, including Marilyn Bedell, she designed and taught in the ONS Leadership Development Institute, both in the U.S. and in Israel in collaboration with the Middle East Cancer Consortium and the Israeli Oncology Nursing Society.
Nevidjon is a past president of the Oncology Nursing Society Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows Alumni Association. Her honors include the Duke School of Nursing Distinguished Alumni Award, the Trish Greene Quality of Life Memorial Lectureship, and induction in the American Academy of Nursing.
The Marilyn K. Bedell Distinguished Lecture in Oncology Nursing is named for retired oncology nursing director Marilyn Bedell, who spent 35 years as a nursing leader and mentor at DHMC.
Directions to DHMC and Parking
Take I-89 to Exit 18. At the end of the ramp, turn onto Rte. 120 North and go approximately 1.5 miles. Turn right at the traffic light immediately after Jesse's Restaurant. Lot 9 is on the left. Park in one of the two lower sections. Please allow time to take the shuttle, which runs continuously during the day, to DHMC East Entrance. Click here for a detailed map and parking information.
Once inside DHMC, follow signs to the Mall and Main Entrance. Turn left at the Rotunda and follow signs to Dartmouth Medical School and Auditorium E.
